Six Gamblers Arrested in Taytay Anti-Crime Operation; Firearm Seized

Taytay, Rizal – Six individuals were arrested by the Taytay Municipal Police Station in an anti-crime operation early on October 28, 2024, after being caught playing Cara y Cruz in Barangay San Juan. The operation was conducted around 4:30 a.m. to address ongoing illegal gambling activities.

According to the police report, officers from Taytay Municipal Police Station were conducting an anti-criminality operation when they noticed a group gathering and engaging in the gambling game Cara y Cruz. Police quickly apprehended the suspects in the act.

The arrested individuals were identified under aliases as Taroga, 49; Glenn, 59; Jay-R, 41; Guya, 57; Ace, 33; and Deldel, 46. All of them are residents of Taytay, Rizal.

During the arrest, officers found a 9mm pistol with a magazine containing six bullets in the tactical belt of Alyas Taroga. In addition, the authorities seized PHP 500 in bet money and three coins used in the game.

The suspects are now facing charges under the Anti-Illegal Gambling Law (PD 1602) and the Firearms Law (RA 10591). They are currently held in Taytay Custodial Facility, awaiting the formal filing of their cases.

Rizal Provincial Director PCOL Felipe Maraggun emphasized the continuous effort of the Rizal police force to combat illegal gambling, loose firearms, and illegal drugs within the province.

PCOL Maraggun assured the public that the Rizal PNP remains committed to safeguarding the community against illegal activities and other threats to security in the province.
