CALAMBA CITY, LAGUNA — Pinangunahan ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. ang pagbubukas ng Maersk Optimus Distribution Center sa Calamba City, Laguna ngayong araw, Oktubre 30. Ang pasilidad, ang pinakamalaking Maersk distribution center sa bansa, ay may kapasidad na mag-imbak ng 76,000 pallet at magsisilbing transport hub ng iba’t ibang produkto sa Timog Luzon.

Ayon sa Pangulo, ang bagong distribution center ay magbibigay ng 2,000 direct at indirect employment opportunities para sa mga Pilipino sa mga susunod na taon ng operasyon nito. “Magbibigay ito ng maraming trabaho at palalakasin ang import at export activities sa Timog Luzon, partikular sa Bicol at Calabarzon region,” ani Pangulong Marcos. Binanggit din niya ang sustainable design ng pasilidad, na akma sa environmental stewardship na isinusulong ng kanyang administrasyon.

Ipinahayag ni Calamba City Mayor Roseller “Ross” H. Rizal ang kanyang kagalakan sa pagbubukas ng pasilidad. “Tayo po ay dumalo sa isang napakahalagang okasyon—ang inauguration ng Maersk Optimus Distribution Center dito sa Barangay Paciano Rizal. Dinaluhan ito ng ating Mahal na Pangulong Ferdinand Bongbong Marcos Jr.! Ang bagong pasilidad pong ito ay isang sinag ng pag-asa at kaunlaran dito sa ating Bayan ng Bayani. Ipinapakita nito na sa tagumpay ng ating pagsasama-sama at pagkakaisa, kayang makamit ang layuning lumikha ng malaking oportunidad at trabaho para sa ating mga kababayan sa larangan ng logistics dito sa ating Lungsod ng Calamba, maging sa Probinsya ng Laguna at buong Region IV-A.”

Dagdag pa ni Mayor Rizal, “Sa suporta at pakikiisa ng ating mahal na Pangulo at ng mga pinuno ng Maersk, tayo ay nagkakaisa sa adhikain ng BAGONG PILIPINAS at ng ating CALAMBAGO. Ang proyektong ito ay isang patunay ng ating pagkakaisa sa layuning sumulong at lumikha ng isang mas maunlad at mas maginhawang bansa para sa lahat! Maraming salamat po sa MAERSK at mabuhay ang Lungsod ng Calamba! Mabuhay ang CalamBAGO at mabuhay ang Bagong Pilipinas!”

Ang Maersk Optimus ay may 75-dock spread at isang Fleet Operational Control Centre (FOCC) na magpapahusay sa operasyon ng kanilang trucking fleet. LEED-certified din ang pasilidad, bahagi ng pagsisikap ng Maersk na maabot ang net zero carbon emissions pagsapit ng 2040.

Kabilang sa mga unang kliyente ng Maersk Optimus ang mga kilalang brand tulad ng L’Oreal, Beauty Elements Ventures Inc. (BeVi), at Unilever. Ang pasilidad ay magsisilbi sa iba’t ibang industriya tulad ng consumer goods, food and beverage, healthcare, at retail.

Ang pagbubukas ng Maersk Optimus ay isang mahalagang hakbang tungo sa pagpapalakas ng logistics sector sa bansa, na magpapabuti hindi lamang sa Calamba kundi sa buong Timog Luzon.
