Suspect in Illegal Firearms Case Arrested in Oriental Mindoro with Special Action Forces’ Support

On November 5, 2024, in a coordinated operation led by the Roxas Municipal Police Station (MPS) and supported by elite forces from the Special Action Force (SAF) 103rd Special Action Company (103SAC) of the 10th Special Action Battalion, a suspect known as “alias Adong” was successfully apprehended in Sitio Uyao, Barangay Bagumbayan, Roxas, Oriental Mindoro. The arrest is part of ongoing efforts to uphold the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act (Republic Act 10591) in the region.

Acting on a Search Warrant (No. 13-2024) issued by the Regional Trial Court, 4th Judicial Region, Branch 43 in Roxas, authorities executed the law enforcement operation in the early hours of November 5. The warrant was specifically granted for suspected violations of R.A. 10591, which regulates firearms possession and aims to prevent the proliferation of illegal weapons.

The joint team, led by Roxas MPS, meticulously planned the operation, enlisting SAF’s support for additional tactical expertise. This collaboration highlights a continued partnership among different units of the Philippine National Police (PNP) to tackle serious crimes in Oriental Mindoro and ensure public safety.

Upon entering the suspect’s residence, law enforcement officers discovered a caliber .38 revolver along with 18 rounds of ammunition. These items were immediately seized and documented as part of the evidence for further investigation and prosecution.

Alias Adong was taken into custody by Roxas MPS, which has assumed responsibility for the detained suspect and the confiscated firearms. The MPS is now processing the necessary documentation and legal requirements for appropriate disposition and filing of charges.

The arrest demonstrates SAF’s vital role in supporting local police efforts, particularly in high-risk operations where additional resources and specialized skills are required. The involvement of SAF underscores the gravity with which authorities regard violations related to illegal firearms.

This successful operation is being lauded by local officials as an example of effective collaboration between local and national law enforcement units. Through these concerted efforts, law enforcement agencies continue to strengthen their campaign to uphold peace and order, protect communities, and prevent crime not only in Oriental Mindoro but nationwide.
