Mayor Ross Rizal’s Tireless Efforts to Provide Aid to Calambeños Affected by Typhoon Kristine

Mayor Ross Rizal’s dedication to the welfare of Calambeños has shone brightly over the past two weeks, as he personally visited barangays devastated by Typhoon Kristine. Braving floodwaters and challenging conditions, Mayor Rizal went directly to affected communities to ensure that essential aid reached those in need without delay. His willingness to face these conditions highlights his commitment to the people he serves.

At the Rizal Coliseum, Calamba City, Laguna, November 7, 2024, together with the Sangguniang Panlungsod, Mayor Rizal facilitated the distribution of Emergency Shelter Assistance for families who suffered extensive damage to their homes. Through this program, the local government has been providing ₱10,000 for individuals with totally damaged homes and ₱5,000 for those with partially damaged properties. The program is designed to help victims regain stability as they begin the process of rebuilding their lives.

The aid distribution started with the first batch, covering 18 barangays that were among the hardest hit by the typhoon. In total, 926 families whose homes were completely destroyed and 2,076 families with partially damaged properties have benefited from the assistance so far. Each family has received financial support according to the extent of the damage, easing their burden as they recover.

Mayor Rizal’s efforts have extended beyond simply handing out aid; he has made it a priority to visit each community and listen to the concerns of affected residents. These visits are more than just symbolic; they demonstrate a leader who stands with his people, especially in times of crisis. His presence has provided both material support and a sense of hope and solidarity.

During these visits, Mayor Rizal has been warmly received by Calambeños who appreciate his compassionate and hands-on approach. Many residents have expressed their gratitude, sharing that his efforts have helped them feel less alone in facing the difficulties left by Typhoon Kristine. For Mayor Rizal, serving the community during this challenging time is both a responsibility and a heartfelt mission.

In his message to the people, Mayor Rizal emphasized that he would continue these efforts until every affected family receives the help they need. “Hindi po tayo titigil hanggat ang bawat isang Calambeño ay maramdaman ang tulong ng Gobyerno sa ganitong mga pagkakataon,” he assured. His words serve as a reminder that the city government’s support will persist as Calambeños work toward recovery.

Mayor Rizal’s commitment reflects the values of compassion, resilience, and unity that define the city of Calamba. As the relief efforts continue, he remains determined to provide immediate and compassionate assistance to everyone affected.
