Vice Governor Atty. Karen Agapay Shares Updates from ULAP’s 106th National Executive Board Meeting on Governance and Local Services

Vice Governor Atty. Karen Agapay, President of the League of Vice Governors of the Philippines (LVGP), attended the 106th National Executive Board Meeting of the Union of Local Authorities of the Philippines (ULAP) held at the Quezon City Reception House in New Manila. The meeting, led by ULAP President and Quirino Province Governor Dax Cua, gathered key leaders from local government leagues across the country to discuss pressing issues and initiatives.

During the meeting, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Juanito Victor “Jonvic” Remulla highlighted the agency’s commitment to enhancing local governance and public service. As part of the “SILG Hour,” Secretary Remulla provided updates on DILG initiatives, including a planned enhancement of the 911 emergency hotline. The new 911 system aims to improve response times and accessibility, with added language sensitivity and geo-fencing capabilities tailored for specific localities.

Vice Governor Agapay emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts among the 10 local government leagues under ULAP, which represent diverse roles in governance—from governors to barangay leaders. “Together, through ULAP, we can achieve our shared goal of improving local governance and delivering effective, responsive services to all communities in the Philippines,” Agapay shared.

The Union of Local Authorities of the Philippines (ULAP) serves as the mother organization for ten key government leagues, including the League of Provinces, League of Cities, League of Vice Governors, and others, promoting a unified voice and strategic partnerships to address the needs of local government units nationwide.

Through these discussions and initiatives, the DILG and ULAP continue to work towards a future of enhanced governance and improved services for Filipino communities, guided by leaders committed to responsive and inclusive local administration.
