Laguna Police Arrest Suspect in Major Anti-Drug Operation, Seize Over Php10 Million Worth of Illegal Drugs

Laguna – Authorities successfully apprehended a suspect and seized a significant amount of illegal drugs during an anti-drug operation in Barangay Maytalang 1, Lumban, Laguna, on November 29, 2024.

The operation, carried out at around 10:55 AM, was led by PLTCOL Joey T. Caise, Commander of the PNP Drug Enforcement Group (DEG) Southern Operations Unit (SOU) 4A, with PMAJ Arlan V. Perez and PLT Rizaldy D. Dimaano spearheading the on-ground team. Acting on Search Warrant No. 2024-278, issued by Executive Judge Agripino R. Bravo of the Regional Trial Court in Lucena City, the team arrested Ricardo Rana y Aquino, alias Carding, Karding, and Ojab Pastor, a 60-year-old pollution control officer and resident of E. Rana Street, Barangay Maytalang 1.

Seized Items

During the operation, authorities confiscated:

10 grams of suspected shabu worth Php 68,000 (bedroom)

1,500 grams of suspected shabu worth Php 10.2 million (bedroom)

301 grams of suspected marijuana worth Php 37,625 (2nd-floor bedroom)

Non-drug evidence, including a black plastic case and sling bag, was also recovered.

Community Witnesses

Barangay officials Hon. Ruben L. Ubatay and Hon. Nicanor B. Flores, alongside media representative Ronaldo M. Vargas, served as witnesses to ensure transparency during the operation.

Details of Arrest

The suspect was apprised of his constitutional rights in his native language, and the entire operation was recorded using two alternative recording devices. The search concluded at approximately 1:52 PM, with the suspect and seized evidence now under the custody of PNP DEG SOU 4A for further documentation and legal proceedings.

Authorities emphasized their commitment to eradicating illegal drugs and protecting the community through sustained and well-coordinated operations.
