Mayor Arman Dimaguila of Biñan City Launches Historic Social Pension Program for Seniors

Biñan City, Laguna – The local government of Biñan has begun distributing social pensions to senior citizens, marking a significant milestone for the city’s elderly population. The distribution started on December 21 at the Alonte Sports Arena under the leadership of Mayor Arman Dimaguila.

On the first day of the Social Pension Payout, over 8,351 senior citizens from four barangays received ₱3,000 each. This financial assistance covers the period from July to December 2024 as part of the city’s Local Social Pension Program.

Mayor Dimaguila emphasized that the initiative is aimed at providing much-needed support to seniors for their daily necessities, such as medicines, utility bills, and holiday preparations.

By the end of the program on Sunday, December 22, approximately 18,666 seniors across Biñan will have received their pensions, underscoring the city’s commitment to its elderly residents.

Vice Mayor Gel Alonte, author of the local ordinance establishing the program, attended the event. The program is recognized as the first Local Social Pension Program in Laguna, setting a precedent for other local governments to follow.

For many beneficiaries, the pension offers timely relief and a chance to celebrate the upcoming holidays with more ease and joy.
