Laguna Acting Governor Karen Agapay has issued Executive Order No. 20 (s. 2024) on December 26, 2024, to strengthen the implementation of Republic Act 7183 and DILG Memorandum No. 2013-147 across the province as preparations for the New Year celebration intensify. The order mandates stricter regulation on the production, sale, and use of fireworks, accompanied by safety campaigns aimed at safeguarding the public.
Governor Agapay emphasized, “As the New Year approaches, it is our duty to protect one another.” She urged the public to comply with the guidelines to ensure a safe and joyous transition into 2025.
Under EO 20, local police are directed to confiscate illegal fireworks, including atomic big, triangulo, super lolo, giant whistle bomb, boga, and other types that burn for over three seconds or contain more than 0.2 grams of gunpowder. Additionally, the distribution, exportation, and sale of fireworks without proper government permits are strictly prohibited.
The provincial government also launched safety campaigns to educate residents on the risks of hazardous fireworks and encourage safer ways to celebrate the New Year.
“With this executive order, I hope we can welcome 2025 joyfully while ensuring everyone’s safety,” Governor Agapay said.
Laguna residents are encouraged to report illegal activities related to fireworks to their local authorities, as the province works toward a safer and more secure New Year celebration.
