On the first day of the PNP-COMELEC checkpoints for the upcoming 2025 National and Local Elections, a high-profile inspection was conducted on January 12, 2025, at Brgy. Halang, Calamba City.

Provincial Election Supervisor Atty. Patric Enaje, representing COMELEC Region 4A, led the activity alongside key officials, including BFP FSSupt. Maria Victoria Brual, NAPOLCOM Atty. Owen De Luna, AFP BGen. Ronald Alcadia, PCG Ensign Neptali Rufali, COMELEC RED Atty. Allan Enriquez II, CRS PCol. Julius Serebin, and Laguna Provincial Director PCol. Ricardo Dalmacia.

The checkpoint aims to ensure safety and order in the region during the election period, focusing on enforcing the election gun ban and related regulations. Atty. Enaje confirmed that CALABARZON is not classified as a red area of concern.

This initiative is part of the PNP and COMELEC’s broader efforts to maintain peaceful and fair elections across CALABARZON. It serves as both a warning to violators and a reassurance of security for residents and voters.

Regional Director PBGen. Paul Kenneth Lucas emphasized the full support of the police force in the implementation of checkpoints throughout CALABARZON. COMELEC Regional Director Atty. Allan Enriquez extended gratitude to uniformed personnel, including the Philippine Coast Guard, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, Bureau of Fire Protection, and Armed Forces of the Philippines, for their collaborative efforts.

Laguna Provincial Director PCol. Ricardo Dalmacia spearheaded the launch of the checkpoint in Calamba City. Deputy Provincial Director for Operations PLtCol. Arnel Pagulayan stated that 24-hour checkpoints are established in every municipality in Laguna to ensure public safety.

The COMELEC reiterated the strict enforcement of the election gun ban, requiring proper documentation for individuals carrying firearms. The public is encouraged to cooperate and report any suspicious activities to help maintain peaceful and orderly elections.
