Caloocan City – Isang 48-anyos na lalaki na kinilalang si Amid Ampil y Mendoza, residente ng Bagong Silang, Caloocan City, ang naaresto matapos matagpuan sa kanyang pag-iingat ang isang ilegal na baril at mga bala sa bisa ng isang search warrant.

Sa isang matagumpay na operasyon noong Enero 15, 2025, alas-11:30 ng gabi, sinagawa ng mga tauhan ng East Bagong Silang Police Substation-13 ang implementasyon ng Search Warrant No. SW-420 laban sa suspek. Pinangunahan ni PCPT Joniber V. Blasco, Commander ng Substation-13, ang operasyon sa ilalim ng direktang superbisyon ni PCOL Edcille V. Canals, Chief of Police ng Caloocan City.

Ang search warrant ay inilabas ni Hon. Glenda K. Cabello-Marin, Executive Judge ng RTC Branch 124, noong Enero 14, 2025, para sa paglabag sa Section 28 ng RA 10591 o ang Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition Act. Ang operasyon ay isinagawa gamit ang body-worn cameras, alternative recording devices, at sa presensya ng mga opisyal na saksi na sina Renato Pedroche, isang media representative, at Brgy. Kagawad Joann L. Felizardo.

Narecover sa loob ng tirahan ng suspek ang sumusunod:
Isang (1) unit na Caliber .45 pistol na may serial number 779979, kasama ang magazine na may lamang bala.
Dalawang (2) live ammunition para sa Caliber .45.


Matapos mabasahan ng kanyang mga karapatan, ang suspek ay agad na dinala sa kustodiya ng East Bagong Silang Police Substation-13. Si Amid Ampil ay mahaharap sa kasong paglabag sa Section 28 ng RA 10591.

Ayon kay PCPT Blasco, ang matagumpay na operasyon ay bahagi ng pinaigting na kampanya ng PNP laban sa mga ilegal na baril sa Caloocan City.

Ang nasabing insidente ay patunay ng patuloy na pagsusumikap ng lokal na pulisya sa pagpapanatili ng kaayusan at seguridad sa lungsod.
