Two Dead, Eight Injured in Tragic Road Crash in Alaminos, Laguna

Alaminos, Laguna – A devastating head-on collision between a Yamaha Mio motorcycle and a Nissan Urvan van claimed the lives of two drivers and left eight passengers injured early Monday, January 20, 2025, at Del Pilar Street, Barangay Poblacion 2, Alaminos, Laguna.

The crash occurred at around 12:20 AM when the Nissan Urvan, driven by an unidentified individual, overtook another vehicle on a blind curve and collided head-on with a Yamaha Mio motorcycle heading in the opposite direction. Both vehicles were severely damaged, with reports confirming total wreckage.

The motorcycle driver, identified as 27-year-old Edward Laolio Ruelo from Calamba City, and the van driver, whose identity remains unknown, were both pronounced dead on arrival at nearby hospitals in San Pablo City.

Eight passengers of the van, all local youth leaders from Tabaco City, Albay, sustained varying degrees of injuries. They include:

Emergency responders from various barangays and the Alaminos MDRRMO rushed to the scene to transport the injured to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident to confirm the identity of the van driver and determine further liabilities. A detailed spot report is expected to follow.

Residents are urged to exercise caution when traversing the blind curve where the accident occurred, a frequent site of collisions due to limited visibility.
