MAPALLA Ferry System Nears Approval: A Game-Changer for Metro Manila and Laguna Commuters

The highly anticipated Manila Bay-Pasig River-Laguna Lake (MAPALLA) Ferry System Project is poised for approval, with its feasibility study set to be completed by mid-2025.

Department of Transportation (DOTr) Undersecretary for Planning and Project Development Timothy John Batan announced that the transport agency is closely collaborating with the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Center to bring the project to fruition. The MAPALLA Ferry System aims to offer commuters a modern, efficient, and environmentally friendly transit option by harnessing the waterways of Manila Bay, Pasig River, Marikina River, and Laguna Lake.

Once operational, the system is expected to alleviate traffic congestion in Metro Manila and provide a faster, alternative route for travelers between key areas, including Laguna. This ambitious project underscores the government’s commitment to sustainable urban mobility and improved connectivity for the public.
