Three Suspects Killed, Two Police Officers Injured in Tagum City Shootout

February 1, 2025 – A police operation targeting murder suspects turned deadly in Camella Trails, Visayan Village, as an armed encounter left three individuals dead and two police officers injured.

Personnel from the 15th Special Action Company (15SAC), 1st Special Action Battalion, assisted the Provincial Intelligence Unit of the Davao del Norte Police Provincial Office in a hot pursuit operation against two murder suspects. The Philippine Army and other law enforcement units provided additional support.

During the confrontation, the two primary targets—identified by their aliases, Norman and Roz—were killed, along with an unidentified accomplice. Two members of the SWAT team from Davao del Norte PPO sustained injuries in the exchange.

Authorities recovered multiple firearms and ammunition at the scene, including a 9mm Tanfoglio pistol, a .45 caliber pistol with a defaced serial number, and another 9mm pistol with a defaced serial number. Additional evidence included ammunition, magazines, and spent shell casings.

The Davao del Norte Provincial Forensic Unit has taken custody of the cadavers and recovered items for further investigation and ballistics profiling.

Law enforcement officials emphasized their commitment to ensuring public safety and maintaining peace in the region. Follow-up investigations are ongoing to hold all involved parties accountable and prevent further criminal activities.
