Wilbert Lee Backs Out of Senate Race, Pledges Full Support for AGRI Party-list Reelection and Free Healthcare Advocacy

MANILA – AGRI Party-list Representative Manoy Wilbert Lee announced on Monday that he is withdrawing from the 2025 Senate race, choosing instead to focus on securing AGRI Party-list’s reelection and continuing his fight for accessible healthcare and agricultural reforms.

Citing the lack of sufficient campaign machinery to mount a nationwide bid, Lee emphasized the importance of ensuring AGRI Party-list’s continued presence in Congress to advance their advocacies.

“Sa pag-iikot ko sa bansa, napagtanto ko na kailangan pa ng mas mahabang panahon upang mapatibay ang ugnayan sa ating mga kababayan. Sa ngayon, mas mahalagang tiyakin na maipagpapatuloy ng AGRI Party-list ang laban para sa ating mga magsasaka, mangingisda, at lokal na prodyuser ng pagkain,” Lee stated during a press conference in Manila.

Strengthening AGRI’s Advocacy for Farmers and Food Security

As the face of AGRI Party-list, Lee has been instrumental in pushing for landmark agricultural policies, including the New Agrarian Emancipation Act, Philippine Salt Industry Development Act, and the Anti-Agricultural Economic Sabotage Act. He reaffirmed his commitment to championing legislation that supports food security, lower food prices, and improved livelihood opportunities for farmers and fisherfolk.

“Tuloy ang laban para sa mas murang pagkain at proteksyon sa ating ‘food security soldiers,’” Lee said, referring to local agricultural workers.

A Relentless Champion for Free Healthcare

Beyond agriculture, Lee has been a staunch advocate for healthcare reform. His exposé on PhilHealth’s P500-billion fund surplus led to an increase in benefits, including free dialysis, free eye check-ups for children, expanded breast cancer treatment, and free outpatient emergency care services.

He reiterated his personal commitment to his advocacy, saying: “Wala man sa katungkulan, ipagpapatuloy ko ang ‘Gamot Mo, Sagot Ko!’ upang matulungan ang ating mga kababayan na hindi dapat matakot magkasakit dahil sa gastusin.”

Moving Forward with AGRI Party-list

While stepping back from his Senate bid, Lee assured his supporters that his mission remains unchanged. “Tuloy ang laban! Ang laban para sa murang pagkain, libreng gamot, at mas maayos na kinabukasan para sa bawat Pilipino.”

His decision to refocus on AGRI Party-list’s reelection signals a strategic move to consolidate support for the sector he has long championed, ensuring that his legislative efforts continue to benefit Filipinos beyond 2025.
