Drug Bust in Caloocan: Three Suspects Nabbed in P1.66-Million Marijuana Operation

A long-time marijuana distributor and two high-value individuals were arrested in a buy-bust operation conducted by the Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) of the Caloocan City Police. The operation took place in Phase 5A, Barangay 176-B, Caloocan City, under the leadership of the SDEU team leader and the direct supervision of PCOL Edcille V. Canals, Chief of Police of Caloocan City Police Station. The raid was conducted with proper coordination from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), registered under Coordination Number 10001-032025-0052.

According to authorities, the operation was carried out at around 11:34 AM on Monday, March 3, 2025, in Phase 5A, Package 3, Block 1, Lot 22, Bagong Silang, Barangay 176, Caloocan City. A police officer acted as a poseur buyer, leading to the successful arrest of the main suspect, identified as “Michael,” along with two female accomplices classified as high-value individuals.

The arrested suspects were identified as Michael Dela Cruz y Olazo, 44 years old, single, a band member, and a resident of Phase 5A, Package 3, Block 1, Lot 22, Bagong Silang, Barangay 176, Caloocan City. Chery Rose Galazan Alarilla, 35 years old, single, a tattoo artist, and a resident of the same address. Marjorie Faller y Monternel, 27 years old, single, unemployed, and a resident of No. 52 Malanting St., corner Ipil St., Barangay 179, Caloocan City.

Recovered from the suspects were various forms of marijuana, including three medium-sized heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing dried marijuana leaves with fruiting tops, two large heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing Kush (high-grade marijuana), two brick-sized heat-sealed transparent plastic packages containing dried marijuana leaves with fruiting tops, one medium resealable plastic sachet containing Kush, and one small resealable plastic sachet containing dried marijuana leaves with fruiting tops. Authorities also confiscated a genuine five-hundred-peso bill marked with the initials “CSD” and a serial number KG139564, along with two fake one-thousand-peso bills used as buy-bust money. A blue eco bag marked by the arresting officer was also recovered.

The total weight of the confiscated Kush amounted to 1,000 grams, with an estimated street value of P1,400,000. Additionally, 2,170 grams of dried marijuana leaves were recovered, valued at approximately P380,000. In total, the seized illegal drugs weighed 3,170 grams, amounting to an estimated P1,660,000.

The suspects were read their rights and are now facing charges for violating Sections 5, 26, and 11 of Article II of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Despite their arrest, the suspects claim they are not users, only sellers.

The three individuals are now in the custody of the Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) of Caloocan City Police Station for further legal proceedings.
