RD QUESADA Lauds Php816 Million Drug Haul at Calapan Port

Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro – Police Regional Office MIMAROPA Regional Director PBGEN ROGER L. QUESADA commended the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) 4B, its partner law enforcement agencies, and the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) for the successful seizure of around 120 kilograms of shabu with an estimated worth of Php816 million in a major interdiction operation at Calapan Port on March 21, 2025.

The joint operation, led by PDEA 4B, in collaboration with the PNP-SOU 4B, PNP Drug Enforcement Group, PRO MIMAROPA Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit, Calapan City Police Station, the Philippine Coast Guard, and the Philippine Ports Authority, resulted in the arrest of a 43-year-old man from Iloilo City.

“I commend the dedication and teamwork of PDEA 4B, our PNP units, and other law enforcement partners for this significant accomplishment,” said PBGEN QUESADA.

“This successful operation is a testament to the effectiveness of our intensified inter-agency collaboration. I have long advocated for a unified approach among law enforcement agencies in our fight against illegal drugs, particularly in strengthening port security—one of the most critical fronts in preventing drug smuggling in our AOR,” he added.

Authorities recovered 120 sealed packages containing a white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu, each weighing approximately one (1) kilogram, concealed inside two (2) luggage bags and five (5) handheld bags.

In addition, law enforcers confiscated a white Toyota Camry, an Android phone, and a Montenegro Shipping Lines ticket, which will serve as evidence in the case.

“Let this serve as a strong and clear message—there is no safe passage for illegal drugs in MIMAROPA. We will continue to intensify our operations and hold accountable those who seek to destroy our communities,” emphasized PBGEN QUESADA.

Meanwhile, data from the Regional Operations Division revealed that since January 1, 2025, PRO MIMAROPA has conducted 88 anti-drug operations, leading to the arrest of 110 drug personalities and the confiscation of 434.47 grams of shabu valued at Php2.95 million.

“This successful operation strengthens our resolve to intensify our anti-drug efforts. PRO MIMAROPA remains steadfast in our mission to protect our people and secure a future free from the devastating effects of illegal drugs,” PBGEN QUESADA affirmed.
