High-Value Drug Suspect Arrested in Calamba Buy-Bust, P3.74M Shabu Seized

Calamba City, Laguna – A woman identified as a high-value drug target was arrested in a joint buy-bust operation conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Regional Office 4A Special Enforcement Teams 1 and 2, PDEA Laguna Provincial Office, and Calamba City Police Station on March 27, 2025, at around 5:00 PM in Bucal Bypass Road, Purok 3, Bucal, Calamba City.

The suspect was identified by authorities as alias Irene, 42 years old, a married resident of Barangay Pansol, Calamba City. She had been under surveillance for her alleged involvement in illegal drug activities before her arrest.

During the operation, law enforcers seized approximately 550 grams of suspected shabu, with an estimated street value of P3,740,000. The operation was part of an intensified campaign against illegal drugs in Laguna and the Calabarzon region.

In addition to the confiscated drugs, authorities also recovered buy-bust money, which served as evidence in the case. The suspect was immediately placed under arrest following the successful transaction with an undercover operative.

She is set to face charges for violating Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs) under Article II of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. If convicted, she could face life imprisonment and a substantial fine.

The suspect is currently detained at the PDEA Region 4A Custodial Facility in Santa Rosa City, Laguna, as authorities prepare the necessary legal proceedings against her. Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies continue their efforts to dismantle drug networks operating in the region.
