SSS Cracks Down on Delinquent Employers: 132 in CALABARZON Face RACE Campaign Sanctions

The Social Security System (SSS) Luzon South 1 Division launched the 2024 leg of its Run After Contribution Evaders (RACE) Campaign with a strong enforcement drive, as 13 SSS branch offices simultaneously issued written notices to delinquent employers across Cavite, Laguna, and Quezon.

SSS Vice President for Luzon South 1 Division Edwin S. Igharas confirmed that a total of 132 non-compliant employers were served notices. Of these, 87 businesses failed to remit a staggering P15.48 million in employee contributions, including penalties, while 45 employers were found operating without proper registration with the SSS.

“Employees rely on their SSS benefits for financial security in times of need. Employers’ failure to register their businesses and remit their workers’ contributions not only violates the law but also deprives their employees of the benefits they rightfully deserve,” Igharas emphasized.

He stressed that the RACE Campaign is a reflection of SSS’s unwavering commitment to uphold the rights of Filipino workers through the strict enforcement of social security laws. “Employers must understand that timely and accurate contribution remittance is more than a legal obligation—it is a moral responsibility,” he added.

Delinquent employers have been given 15 days to coordinate with their respective SSS branches and settle their obligations to avoid legal consequences. Igharas also reminded business owners that they may still avail themselves of existing condonation programs and flexible payment options to comply.

“We are sending a clear message that SSS will take necessary actions to uphold the welfare of Filipino workers. We urge all employers to comply voluntarily and work with us in building a more secure future for their employees,” Igharas concluded.

Under the Social Security Law, non-compliance may lead to imprisonment ranging from six years and one day to 12 years, or a fine of ₱5,000 to ₱20,000—or both.
