PNP BACKS PRESIDENT MARCOS’ CALL FOR DISCIPLINE AMONG MOTORISTS AMID RISING ROAD RAGE INCIDENTS

The Philippine National Police (PNP) strongly supports the call of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for discipline, patience, and responsibility among motorists following a series of alarming road rage incidents, including the recent fatal shooting along Marcos Highway in Antipolo City.

In his latest video, President Marcos reminded the public that a driver’s license is not a right, but a privilege — one that requires every motorist to strictly observe traffic laws, remain calm under pressure, and act with discipline on the road.

“Tayong lahat ay kailangan sumunod sa batas trapiko. Kailangan ang disiplina para maging responsableng mga Pilipino sa lansangan. ‘Wag maging kamote. Masyado nang madami ‘yan,” the President emphasized.

He further urged motorists to manage their emotions while driving, show courtesy to fellow road users, and choose peaceful and safe behavior.“At bukod sa dunong sa pagmamaneho, ang lahat ay kailangan ayusin ang pag-uugali sa pagmamaneho at habaan ang pasensiya,” the President added.

As the nation approaches the observance of Holy Week, the President also reminded the public: “Ngayong darating na Mahal na Araw, piliin natin ang kapayapaan, piliin natin ang kaligtasan para sa ating mga sarili at lalo na sa ating mga pamilya.”

The Chief of the Philippine National Police, PGen Rommel Francisco D. Marbil, echoed the President’s sentiments and emphasized the importance of road courtesy and responsible driving.

“We join our President in calling on all motorists to maintain composure and discipline on the road. Ang lisensiya sa pagmamaneho ay hindi karapatan kundi pribilehiyo na may kaakibat na pananagutan.

Road rage is a serious threat to public safety, and the PNP will not tolerate those who endanger the lives of others because of uncontrolled anger,” PGen Marbil stated.

The PNP further calls on the public to be proactive in de-escalating situations they may witness on the road. Instead of capturing videos for social media, citizens are encouraged to help pacify conflicts and report incidents immediately to the authorities.

“Ang PNP ay patuloy na magpapatrolya, magmo-monitor, at reresponde sa anumang insidente sa kalsada. Ngunit responsibilidad rin ng bawat isa na pairalin ang hinahon at respeto sa kapwa. Sa panahon ng init ng ulo, magtimpi at isaalang-alang ang mas malawak na kapakanan,” PGen Marbil added.

The Philippine National Police vows to intensify traffic enforcement operations and strengthen coordination with local government units and the Land Transportation Office (LTO) to promote road safety awareness and discipline.

The PNP urges all motorists to remember that even a moment of rage can cause irreversible harm. Let us all work together to ensure our roads are safe and free from violence.
