“Mic On, Mission On!” FOBC Class 2024-36 Steps into the Spotlight with Studio Tour and TV Hosting Drill

Calamba City — With microphones on and mission in mind, the Fire Officer Basic Course (FOBC) Class 2024-36, proudly known as Class “PAGSILAK,” took a bold stride in mastering the art of public communication through a hands-on Public Speaking module held on April 25, 2025, at the National Fire Training Institute (NFTI), Camp Vicente Lim, Calamba City.

In an innovative blend of media exposure and professional development, the highlight of the module was a studio tour at the government-run PTV4 Network in Quezon City. The future fire officers were given a rare behind-the-scenes look at live news production and met with the anchors of Rise and Shine Pilipinas. The visit, led by the station’s Chief News Editor, offered deep insights into the vital role of accurate public information in shaping community safety and awareness.

Capping off the day was an engaging Mock Talk Show Hosting exercise at the BFP Public Information Service Studio in the BFP National Headquarters. Taking on the role of TV anchors in a simulated program dubbed BFP Live, each candidate duo delivered fire safety messages, answered scenario-based queries, and expressed their goals in public service—all while adapting to the fast-paced format of broadcast journalism.

“This activity forms part of our commitment to produce well-rounded fire officers—skilled not just in fire suppression but also in public engagement,” shared FSSUPT Christine D. Cula, Director of NFTI. “Their confidence today is a reflection of tomorrow’s empowered public servants.”

FSI Carl Monzon, NFTI Public Information Officer, added, “This initiative merges learning with leadership. We are training fire officers who can lead, speak, and serve with clarity and conviction.”

Members of FOBC Class 2024-36 hailed the experience as “transformational,” underscoring how communication is key not just to commanding fire scenes but also to inspiring trust and cooperation within communities. The event marked a pivotal step in shaping articulate, community-focused protectors—prepared not just to respond to fires, but to ignite awareness and preparedness across the nation.
