Philippines — Gubernatorial candidate and current Vice Governor, Atty. Karen Agapay, expressed her strong support for the implementation of Sultan Kudarat’s “No Balance Billing Policy,” calling it a model that should be adopted nationwide.

“This is a dream of every province in the country,” Agapay said. “I am one of the fortunate ones who witnessed that this is real — free hospitalization is possible.”

The “No Balance Billing Policy” ensures that patients, especially those admitted through government assistance programs, will not be charged any out-of-pocket expenses during their hospital stay. Agapay believes that such a program aligns perfectly with her vision of inclusive, accessible, and compassionate healthcare for all.

As she campaigns for the gubernatorial seat, Agapay pledges to work towards bringing this healthcare model to her own province, aiming to eliminate the financial burden that medical care places on many Filipino families.

Her statement has sparked discussions on health equity, with many citizens expressing hope that more provinces will follow Sultan Kudarat’s example.
