Gen. Jack Wanky Takes Helm as New Calabarzon Police Chief: Vows Stronger Campaign vs. Crime, Drugs, Insurgency

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna — Police Brigadier General Jack Wanky formally assumed command of the Police Regional Office 4-A (Calabarzon) in a turnover ceremony held Friday morning, June 20, at Camp Vicente Lim.

Wanky replaces Police Brig. Gen. Paul Kenneth Lucas, who served as regional director for one year, eight months, and sixteen days. The change of command was officiated by PNP Deputy Chief for Administration, Police Lt. Gen. Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., who represented PNP Chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III.

Gen. Wanky, a proud member of the PNPA “Tagapagpatupad” Class of 1992, vowed to continue the reforms and accomplishments of his predecessor. He emphasized intensified campaigns against criminality, illegal drugs, and insurgency, while prioritizing police discipline, professionalism, and community engagement.

“We will sustain our gains and move forward with even stronger resolve. I commit to fostering transparency, accountability, and stronger partnerships with our stakeholders and the public,” Wanky said.

In his farewell address, outgoing regional director Gen. Lucas expressed gratitude to his team, the community, and the PNP leadership. “I carry with me the spirit of Team Calabarzon—resilient, committed, and service-oriented. Let us continue to serve with integrity, humility, and compassion,” he said.

The ceremony symbolized the formal transition of leadership as Nartatez handed over the office symbol and property inventory book to the new regional director.

With his appointment, Gen. Wanky pledged to uphold the PNP’s Three Pillars and raise the bar of public service, embodying the vision of a truly responsive and people-centered police force under the “Bagong Pilipinas” framework.
