P2.2-M Worth of Shabu Seized in Laguna Drug Bust; Two High-Value Targets Nabbed

Camp BGen Vicente P Lim, Laguna — Authorities successfully apprehended two high-value drug suspects in a buy-bust operation conducted by the Santa Cruz Municipal Police Station (MPS) in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) at Sitio Bayside, Barangay Gatid, Sta. Cruz, Laguna.

Based on the investigation, the suspects—identified only by their aliases “Marine” and “Edwin”—were caught in the act of selling a sachet of suspected shabu to an undercover operative.

Further search led to the confiscation of 14 additional heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing a white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu. The total weight of the seized drugs was approximately 325 grams, with an estimated street value of Php 2,210,000.00.

PRO4A Regional Director PBGen Jack L. Wanky lauded the joint efforts of Sta. Cruz MPS and PDEA in the successful anti-drug operation.

“I commend the Santa Cruz MPS and our PDEA counterparts for their excellent coordination and unwavering dedication in combating this social menace. I urge the public to continue supporting the government’s anti-drug programs by reporting suspicious activities and joining our mission for a safer and drug-free community,” Wanky said.

The arrested suspects are now under the custody of the Santa Cruz MPS as formal charges are being prepared against them under Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to intensifying anti-drug operations across CALABARZON and encouraged residents to remain vigilant and cooperative.
