NGCP Restores Luzon Grid After Emong’s Wrath

Luzon, Philippines – July 27, 2025 — The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has completed a swift restoration of transmission lines affected by Tropical Cyclone Emong, bringing full power transmission services back to normal across the Luzon grid.

After days of intense weather disturbances, the final affected line—the Bacnotan–Bulala 69kV—was successfully reenergized on the morning of July 26, 2025. This marked the full normalization of Luzon’s grid operations, a critical milestone in NGCP’s emergency response efforts.

The Bauang–San Fernando 115kV line has also been partially energized by NGCP. However, repairs continue on the remaining portion of the line, which is owned and maintained by the La Union Electric Cooperative (LUECO).

NGCP reaffirmed its commitment to the safety and reliability of the country’s transmission network, emphasizing its ongoing weather monitoring and readiness to deploy its Overall Command Management Center (OCMC) should further threats arise.

This proactive approach highlights NGCP’s essential role in ensuring power stability amid extreme weather conditions, further solidifying its position as a cornerstone of energy resilience in the Philippines.
