QUEZON — Isang miyembro ng teroristang grupong New People’s Army (NPA) ang nasawi habang tatlong (3) high-powered firearms ang narekober matapos ang isang sagupaan sa pagitan ng tropa ng 2nd Infantry (Jungle Fighter) Division at mga grupo ng NPA sa may Barangay Maguibuay sa Tagkawayan, Quezon nitong Sabado, Agosto 2.

Batay sa ulat ng 201st Infantry Brigade, nagsimula ang engkuwentro sa isinagawang security operation ng 16th Infantry Battalion, bunsod ng impormasyon mula sa mga residente hinggil sa presensya ng armadong grupo sa lugar.

Sa loob ng 20 minutong bakbakan, narekober ng mga sundalo ang isang AK-47 rifle, isang M16A1 rifle, isang M203 grenade launcher, mga magasin na may bala, isang bandolier, at isang wristwatch patuloy pang inaalam ang pagkakakilanlan ng napatay na rebelde sa engkwentro.

Kaugnay nito,patuloy pa ang isinasagawang clearing at pursuit operations ng mga sundalo upang tugisin ang mga nagsitakas na iba pang miyembro ng NPA.

Ang insidente ng sagupaan ay bahagi ng pinaigting na kampanya ng militar sa rehiyon ng Southern Tagalog upang tuluyang tapusin ang banta ng NPA at tiyakin ang seguridad ng mga komunidad.
