Senator Alan Peter Cayetano urged Filipinos to uphold faith in God, the rule of law, and the nation’s institutions following reports that the International Criminal Court (ICC) allegedly issued an arrest warrant against Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa.

In a statement released Friday, Cayetano emphasized that the Supreme Court’s Rules on Extradition Proceedings reaffirm the country’s commitment to justice guided by principles and due process, not by political motivations or personal biases.

“The Court has drawn the line clearly: extradition, and all acts of justice, must be rooted in law and due process, not in bias or emotion. Opinions change, but principles remain. That is how we preserve justice and protect democracy,” Cayetano said.



The senator stressed that equality before the law must prevail, assuring the public that both powerful and ordinary citizens deserve the same protection and accountability under the Constitution.

“No one is above the law, and no one is beneath its protection. Every Filipino, whether senator or citizen, deserves equal treatment and the full measure of due process,” he added.



Cayetano also called on the Senate leadership to uphold integrity and fairness, saying the institution should stand for justice rather than privilege.

“Let us show that the Senate stands not for privilege, but for fairness — that we will uphold for our members only what we are willing to uphold for every Filipino: justice without bias, and equality before the law,” he said.



He concluded by reminding both those in power and in opposition that justice should never be used to settle political scores but to serve truth and unity.

“The law must not be a weapon to divide us, but a bridge that unites us in fairness, trust, and faith in the system we all depend on,” Cayetano said.
