Mayor Ross Rizal Leads Urgent Multi-Agency Action to Ease Calamba Holiday Traffic

Calamba City, Laguna — Mayor Roseller “Ross” H. Rizal convened an urgent multi-agency meeting to address the worsening traffic congestion in Calamba, particularly along the stretch of the National Highway from Crossing to Bagong Kalsada, as the Christmas and New Year rush begins.

The meeting brought together key city officials, including City Administrator Johnny Pamusmusan, Calamba PNP Chief PLTCOL Dennis De Guzman, City Planning Head Dennis Lanzanas, ABC President Eduardo R. Silva, City Engineer Erwin Pacada, and officers of the Public Order and Safety Office (POSO) led by P/LT COL Conrado Masongsong. Traffic Officer IV Christopher presented the major causes of congestion and proposed both short-term and long-term solutions.

Following extensive discussions, Mayor Rizal ordered the immediate implementation of several measures aimed at easing holiday traffic pressure. These include:

Strict enforcement of No Parking zones along major highways

Deployment of additional traffic enforcers during peak hours

Clear and organized loading and unloading zones

Synchronization of traffic lights across key intersections

Sidewalk clearing operations and removal of illegal structures

Implementation of one-way traffic schemes in select inner roads

Mayor Rizal emphasized that these interventions are designed to improve travel efficiency for Calambeños and ensure safer, faster mobility throughout the holiday season. He also directed concerned departments to coordinate closely for swift execution and continuous monitoring.

The dialogue concluded on a productive note, with agencies committing to work together in delivering immediate solutions to Calamba’s traffic issues.
