QUEZON — Natagpuang patay ang isang 39-anyos na blogger at canvasser na si Mark Atienza, na mas kilala bilang “Macoy,” sa isang liblib at magubat na lugar sa Tayabas City.

Nawawala ito simula noong Biyernes, Pebrero 20, 2026 na ayon sa mga imbestigador, natagpuan ang kanyang bangkay noong Sabado, Pebrero 21, bandang 2:00 ng hapon, malapit sa ilog sa Sitio Don Elpidio, Brgy. Lalo.

Ang lugar ay mga apat na kilometro mula sa highway at kailangan pang dumaan sa makikitid na pilapil.

Nang makita ng mga kaanak ng biktima ang isang bagong hukay sa tabi ng sapa, naghinala ang mga ito na may nakalibing doon.

Matapos hukayin ang lupa ay bumulaga ang katawan ni Macoy at nakatali ang mga kamay,nakabalot ang ulo ng itim na T-shirt, at may busal ang bibig.

Nauna nang nag-report ang asawa ng blogger sa Tayabas PNP tungkol sa pagkawala ni Macoy matapos na hindi ito umuwi sa kanilang tahanan.

Nagsagawa ng imbestigasyon ang Quezon Police Forensic Unit sa crime scene at patuloy ang kanilang pagsisiyasat at inaalam din kung sa mismong lugar pinaslang ang biktima.

Ayon sa pulisya may mga tao na silang person of interest bilang suspek subalit wala pang malinaw na motibo sa krimen.

Naghihintay pa ang pulisya ng resulta mula sa post-mortem examination upang mabatid ang eksaktong dahilan ng pagkamatay ni Macoy.

Ayon sa pulisya, walang masamang rekord ang blogger sa barangay at kilala ito bilang mabuting tao sa kanilang komunidad.
