QUEZON — Hihigpitan ng pamahalaang bayan ng Gumaca, Quezon ang pagpapatupad ng mga batas laban sa paninigarilyo at paggamit ng vape sa mga pampublikong lugar.
Ayon kay Gumaca Mayor Webster Letargo, lumalala ang paglabag sa mga umiiral na ordinansa kung saan laganap ang paninigarilyo at pagve-vape sa palengke, parke, at maging sa pampublikong sasakyan.
Dahil dito, inatasan ang kapulisan at mga lokal na awtoridad na higpitan ang pagpapatupad ng Executive Order No. 26 at Republic Act No. 11900 upang masugpo ang paglabag.
Binigyang-diin ng alkalde na mapanganib sa kalusugan ang secondhand smoke at vape, lalo na sa mga kabataang nalalantad sa mga pampublikong lugar.
Kabilang sa tututukan ng operasyon ang mga lumalabag sa loob ng jeep, tricycle, palengke, parke, at iba pang pampublikong lugar, alinsunod na rin sa umiiral na Smoke-Free Ordinance ng bayan.
Sa ilalim ng mga lokal na kautusan tulad ng Kautusang Bayan Blg. 13-2011, ipinagbabawal ang paninigarilyo sa pampublikong lugar at sasakyan, habang ang Kautusang Bayan Blg. 22-2011 ay nagpapataw ng multa at counseling sa mga menor de edad at kanilang mga magulang, na maaaring umabot sa ₱2,500 at pagkakakulong sa mga habitual offenders.
Dagdag pa rito, inaatasan din ang mga establisyemento sa ilalim ng Kautusang Bayan Blg. 152-2014 na magpaskil ng impormasyon hinggil sa proteksyon ng kabataan at mahigpit na pagpapatupad ng “No Smoking” policy.
Inaasahan ng lokal na pamahalaan na sa mas pinaigting na implementasyon ng mga batas ay maibabalik ang malinis na hangin, mapoprotektahan ang kabataan, at mapangalagaan ang kalusugan ng mamamayan sa bayan ng Gumaca.
