Calamba City, Laguna – April 15, 2026 — Swift action was taken by the local government of Calamba City under the leadership of Roseller ‘Ross’ H. Rizal to assist residents affected by a fire that struck Barangay 2 earlier today.


Mayor Rizal personally led the distribution of immediate assistance to the affected families, providing GoBags, sacks of rice, relief goods, and financial aid to help them cope with the aftermath of the incident.


In his message, the mayor emphasized the urgency of the city’s response in times of crisis.


“Sa gitna ng pagsubok, agad tayong rumesponde para sa ating mga kababayan na nasunugan kanina sa Brgy. 2. Dinala natin ang agarang tulong tulad ng GoBag, bigas, relief goods, at tulong pinansyal upang kahit papaano ay maibsan ang kanilang pinagdadaanan.”


He also reassured the victims that the local government will continue to support them as they recover from the tragedy.


“Hindi man natin mabura ang sakit ng pangyayari, sisiguraduhin nating hindi kayo nag-iisa. Nandito ang inyong pamahalaan, handang umalalay at tumulong sa bawat hakbang ng inyong pagbangon.”


Mayor Rizal further reminded the public to remain vigilant and practice fire safety measures in their homes.


“Paalala: Patuloy po nating ugaliin ang pag-iingat sa ating mga tahanan—siguraduhing maayos ang mga linya ng kuryente, iwasan ang overloading, at huwag mag-iwan ng nakasinding kandila o appliances na maaaring pagmulan ng sunog.”


He concluded with a message of unity for the community:


“Magkakaisa tayo. Walang maiiwan.”


City officials continue to coordinate with concerned agencies to ensure sustained assistance and support for all affected families.
