SSS Releases Early Pension Increase for 4.1 Million Pensioners, Providing ₱6 Billion in Additional Benefits

CALAMBA CITY, Laguna — The Social Security System (SSS) has begun the early rollout of the second tranche of its Pension Reform Program (PRP), benefiting approximately 4.1 million pensioners nationwide and providing much-needed financial relief amid rising living costs.
Originally scheduled for September 2026, the pension increase has been advanced to June 1, allowing eligible pensioners to receive higher monthly benefits three months earlier than planned.

According to Frederick D. Go, the early implementation reflects the government’s commitment to helping pensioners cope with inflation and rising energy costs.
“We are releasing the second tranche of pension increases ahead of schedule to support millions of pensioners and their families, helping them meet their daily needs and enjoy greater financial security sooner,” Go said.

Meanwhile, Robert Joseph M. de Claro announced that SSS will release around ₱6 billion in additional pension benefits from June to August 2026 as part of the accelerated rollout.

Under the program, pensioners who were already receiving benefits as of May 31, 2026 will immediately qualify for the increase beginning June 1. Those whose pension contingencies occur between June 1 and August 31, 2026, will start receiving the higher pension rates on September 1, 2026.

The second tranche of the PRP grants a 10% increase in monthly pensions for retirement and disability pensioners, while death and survivor pensioners will receive a 5% increase.

De Claro emphasized that the initiative is designed to provide timely assistance to pensioners amid ongoing economic challenges.
“Through the Pension Reform Program, SSS ensures that our pensioners have access to timely, affordable, and reliable financial support when they need it most,” he said.

The Pension Reform Program marks a historic milestone for the SSS as the agency’s first-ever multi-year pension increase program. Under the initiative, pensioners will continue to receive annual pension adjustments every September from 2025 through 2027, strengthening long-term financial support for millions of Filipino beneficiaries.

The early release of the second tranche is expected to bring much-needed relief to pensioners across the country, helping them better manage rising living expenses while enhancing their financial security.
