CALAMBA CITY, Laguna — Hundreds of students received free haircuts during Brigada Eskwela 2026 through the collective efforts of the Samahan ng Manggugupit sa Calamba, helping them prepare with confidence for the opening of the new school year.

Mayor Roseller “Ross” H. Rizal expressed his gratitude to the local barbers’ association for their continued support and commitment to serving the community through the initiative.

“Lubos ang ating pasasalamat sa Samahan ng Manggugupit sa Calamba sa kanilang walang sawang pakikiisa at pagiging katuwang sa matagumpay na pagsasagawa ng Libreng Gupit para sa ating mga mag-aaral noong Brigada Eskwela 2026.”

The mayor emphasized that the volunteers’ generosity, skills, and compassion gave students a fresh start and boosted their confidence as they return to school.

“Sa pamamagitan ng inyong oras, talento, at malasakit, mas naging handa at mas kumpiyansang humarap sa panibagong taon ng pag-aaral ang ating mga kabataan.”

Mayor Rizal also commended the organization for its dedication to public service, highlighting the importance of community collaboration in improving the lives of Calambeños.

“Maraming salamat sa inyong dedikasyon sa paglilingkod. Tunay na kapag nagkakaisa ang komunidad, mas marami tayong natutulungan.”

The free haircut initiative formed part of Brigada Eskwela 2026, a nationwide program that encourages volunteerism and community participation in preparing schools and students for the start of classes. It also underscored the strong partnership between the local government and civic organizations in promoting the welfare and education of Calamba’s youth.
