Mayor Ross Rizal Cites Support for 2,400-Plus Pedicab Drivers Through Rice Aid

**CALAMBA CITY, Laguna** — More than 2,400 pedicab drivers in Calamba City received 20 kilograms of rice each through the national government’s “Bawat Bayan Makikinabang” program, providing additional assistance to drivers who rely on their daily earnings to support their families.

The rice distribution was spearheaded by the national government under President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., with Calamba City Mayor Roseller “Ross” H. Rizal highlighting the importance of extending support to the city’s pedicab drivers and their households.

“Mahigit 2,400 pedicab drivers sa ating lungsod ang nakatanggap ng tig-20 kilos na biyayang bigas mula sa Pamahalaang Nasyonal, sa pangunguna ng ating mahal na Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., sa ilalim ng programang Bawat Bayan Makikinabang.”

Rizal recognized the hard work and perseverance of pedicab drivers who travel daily to earn a living and provide for their families, noting that the rice assistance could help ease household expenses and meet their basic needs.

“Kinikilala natin ang sipag at tiyaga ng ating mga pedicab driver na araw-araw na bumibiyahe at naghahanapbuhay para sa kanilang pamilya. Sa pamamagitan ng programang ito, nawa’y makatulong ang biyayang bigas na maibsan ang kanilang gastusin at makadagdag sa pangangailangan ng kanilang mga tahanan.”

The mayor also expressed his gratitude to Marcos for the continued implementation of programs intended to benefit Filipinos, particularly those who need additional support amid rising household expenses.

“Maraming salamat po, Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., sa patuloy na programang nagbibigay-pakinabang sa ating mga kababayan.”

Rizal emphasized that the initiative reflects the city government’s commitment to ensuring that assistance reaches various sectors of the community, including transport workers who play an important role in providing daily mobility for Calambeños.

“Bawat biyaya, may katumbas na pag-asa. Bawat tulong, para sa bawat Calambeño!”
