In a strong show of support for the government’s Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PUVMP), the “Tindig CALABARZON” coalition is urging the full implementation of the program. This advocacy is bolstered by backing from various government agencies, including the Land Transportation Office (LTO), Department of Transportation (DOTr), Philippine National Police (PNP), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), and many others.

“Tindig CALABARZON,” a coalition representing a silent majority, is voicing out their support for the PUV modernization program amidst challenges from groups like PISTON, who have been resistant to the changes. Despite opposition, the coalition believes that the program’s benefits far outweigh the challenges.

Since the issuance of Department Order No. 2017-011, which introduced the Omnibus Franchising Guidelines (OFG) in 2017, the PUVMP has been working to upgrade the country’s public transportation system. However, groups like PISTON have been resistant to these changes, citing concerns over the modernization of public utility vehicles.

In response, “Tindig CALABARZON” emphasizes the importance of modernizing public transportation for the safety and convenience of commuters. By upgrading vehicles to meet modern standards, the risk of accidents and breakdowns is significantly reduced, providing a safer and more reliable mode of transportation for the public.

The coalition also highlights the economic benefits of the PUV modernization program. By introducing newer, more efficient vehicles, operators can save on fuel and maintenance costs, leading to increased profitability in the long run. This creates a more sustainable and competitive public transportation system.

Moreover, “Tindig CALABARZON” stresses the environmental advantages of the PUVMP. Modern vehicles are more fuel-efficient and emit fewer pollutants, helping to reduce air pollution and mitigate the effects of climate change. This aligns with the government’s efforts to promote environmental sustainability.

Support for the PUVMP comes from various government agencies, including the LTO, which is responsible for vehicle registration and enforcement of transportation laws. The DOTr oversees the implementation of transportation policies and projects, including the PUV modernization program.

The PNP plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of commuters and operators alike. By supporting the modernization program, they contribute to creating a safer public transportation environment.

Additionally, the DILG provides guidance and assistance to local government units in implementing national policies, including those related to transportation. Their support reinforces the importance of coordinated efforts between national and local government agencies in implementing the PUVMP.

In conclusion, “Tindig CALABARZON” urges the government to heed the voice of the silent majority and fully implement the PUV modernization program. With support from various government agencies, the program can pave the way for a safer, more efficient, and environmentally friendly public transportation system for all Filipinos.
