In a concerted effort to combat the scourge of illegal drugs, the Laguna Provincial Police Office (PPO) carried out a successful anti-drug operation resulting in the arrest of two individuals and the confiscation of firearms and a substantial amount of suspected shabu. The operation, spearheaded by the Biñan City Police, unfolded early morning on April 25, 2024, in Barangay Diezmo, Cabuyao City, Laguna.

The arrested suspects were identified as “Raymond,” a high-value individual (HVI), and “Ban,” a street-level individual (SLI), both residents of Calamba, Laguna. According to Police Colonel Gauvin Mel Y Unos, the Acting Provincial Director of Laguna PPO, the suspects were apprehended following a meticulously planned buy-bust operation.

Under the leadership of Police Lieutenant Colonel John Eric B Antonio, Chief of Cabuyao Component City Police Station, operatives conducted the buy-bust operation at 5:30 AM. The operation involved an undercover police officer posing as a buyer, transacting with the suspects using marked money. Upon completion of the transaction, the suspects were swiftly apprehended.

During the operation, law enforcement officers seized seven plastic sachets containing approximately 55 grams of suspected shabu, with an estimated street value of over PhP 300,000. Alongside the narcotics, authorities also confiscated a .45 caliber short firearm, a magazine, six live ammunition rounds, and various drug paraphernalia. Additionally, a Yamaha Mio sporty motorcycle, a Chery mobile cellphone, and a weighing scale were seized as evidence.

The arrested suspects are currently in the custody of Biñan City Police Community Precinct Station pending the filing of charges under Republic Act No. 9165 or the “Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002,” as well as the “Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.”

Furthermore, PCOL Unos lauded the dedication and professionalism of the law enforcement officers involved in the operation, highlighting their relentless pursuit of justice and their unwavering commitment to public safety.

The successful operation in Cabuyao City is part of the broader strategy of the Laguna PNP to address the proliferation of illegal drugs in the province. In recent years, the Laguna PNP has intensified its efforts to dismantle drug syndicates and curb the distribution of narcotics, resulting in numerous arrests and drug seizures across the province.

The arrest of Raymond and Ban is a significant achievement in the ongoing battle against illegal drugs. It underscores the effectiveness of intelligence-driven operations and the cooperation between law enforcement agencies in addressing the drug menace.

Residents of Laguna are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to illegal drugs to the authorities. Through community involvement and collaborative efforts, the Laguna PNP aims to create a safer and drug-free environment for all residents.

Meanwhile, investigations are ongoing to identify any possible links between the arrested suspects and larger drug networks operating in the region. The Laguna PNP remains steadfast in its commitment to rid the province of illegal drugs and hold accountable those who seek to profit from the suffering of others.

As the fight against illegal drugs continues, the Laguna PNP reaffirms its dedication to upholding the rule of law and ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents. With each successful operation, the resolve of law enforcement agencies in Laguna grows stronger, sending a clear message to criminals that they will be pursued and apprehended, no matter where they hide.
