Mekeni Food Corporation, Hospital on Wheels Bring Free Healthcare to Over 1,000 Residents in Porac

Mekeni Food Corporation once again demonstrated its dedication to community wellness and inclusive growth by supporting the Hospital on Wheels (HOW) medical mission held on December 12–13, 2025, at the Jose Songco Lapid Gymnasium in Barangay Cangatba, Porac, Pampanga.

The two-day outreach provided free medical consultations, minor surgical services, dental care, and eye checkups to more than 1,000 residents, prioritizing indigenous peoples (IPs) and other marginalized sectors of the community. The activity was carried out through the combined efforts of Hospital on Wheels, the Porac local government, Mekeni Food Corporation, and various partner groups that worked together to extend vital healthcare services to those with limited access.

Mekeni President Prudencio “Pruds” Garcia emphasized that meaningful partnerships play a crucial role in creating long-term benefits for communities.
“When groups unite with a common goal, we are able to make a real difference. This mission is especially meaningful to me because our parents, Mekeni founders Mr. Felix Garcia and the late Mrs. Meding Garcia, once served indigenous communities in the mountains. Supporting this cause allows us to continue their tradition of service,” Garcia shared.

Dr. Jim Sanchez, founder of Hospital on Wheels, expressed his gratitude to Mekeni and all partners who contributed to the success of the mission.
“For the past 18 years, Hospital on Wheels has been committed to making healthcare accessible to all. We sincerely thank Mekeni Food Corporation, the local government of Porac, and our partners for generously giving their time, resources, and skills to make this medical mission possible,” Sanchez said.

Porac Municipal Vice Mayor Trisha “Jen” Capil welcomed the initiative, highlighting its positive impact on the community, particularly among indigenous groups.
“This medical mission greatly benefits our residents, especially our indigenous peoples. We appreciate Hospital on Wheels, Mekeni, and all partner organizations for bringing these much-needed services to Porac, in support of our goal of ensuring accessible and inclusive healthcare for everyone,” Capil said.

Beyond medical services, the mission also provided gift packs to indigenous peoples and children who participated, adding care and support to the overall outreach.
Hospital on Wheels has been conducting medical missions nationwide for 18 years, while Mekeni Food Corporation has been a partner for the third consecutive year—reflecting the company’s continued commitment to community-based health initiatives.
The mission was also supported by the Rotary Club of Malolos (D3770), Rotary Club of Maharlika (D3780), Philippine Travel Operators Association (PHILTOA), Aguman Capampangan, the Office of Senator Imee Marcos, Eagles, BNI Pampanga, the Philippine Air Force (PAF), PAF Reservists, and Scrubbed BPO.
