Laguna Launches “Pantry Program” to Feed Communities and Empower Local Farmers

The Provincial Government of Laguna, under the leadership of Sol Aragones, has officially rolled out the Laguna Pantry Program on April 13, 2026—an initiative aimed at providing free fresh vegetables to communities while strengthening support for local farmers amid ongoing economic challenges.

The program is designed to directly purchase agricultural produce from local farmers and distribute these to beneficiaries across the province’s four districts. By eliminating intermediaries, the initiative ensures fair income for farmers while delivering affordable, nutritious food to residents in need.

Governor Aragones emphasized the dual-purpose mission of the program, stating, “Hindi tayo papayag na hindi tayo tutulong. Naisip po namin na maglagay ng Laguna Pantry. Natulungan na natin ang publiko, natulungan din natin ang mga farmers.”

During its initial phase, the provincial government will prioritize sourcing vegetables from farmers in Nagcarlan. As the program expands, it aims to include farmers from all districts of Laguna, broadening participation and reinforcing the province’s agricultural sector.

The Laguna Pantry Program reflects a proactive approach by the provincial government to address food security concerns while simultaneously uplifting the livelihoods of local farmers—demonstrating a model of inclusive and sustainable community support.
