The vibrant city of Calamba recently celebrated a significant milestone, commemorating its 23rd year since being declared a city. The commemoration was marked by a grand event attended by local officials, community leaders, and residents, all coming together to celebrate progress, unity, and achievements.

At the 23rd Calamba Cityhood Anniversary at the Jose Rizal Coliseum, Mayor Rizal and officials celebrated by awarding incentives to Drug-Cleared Barangays, recognizing Regional Athletics Association Meet Medalists, breaking ground for a Multi-Purpose Building, and inaugurating the Rizal Building.

Mayor Roseller Rizal, along with Lone District Representative Charisse Ann Hernandez-Alcantara and Vice Mayor Angelito Lazaro Jr., spearheaded the festivities, underscoring the city’s remarkable journey and its commitment to continuous growth and development.

“In commemorating our 23rd year as a city, we honor not just our past achievements but also look forward to the future with optimism and determination,” remarked Mayor Rizal.

The celebration was a testament to the city’s progress and unity, with various activities and programs highlighting the achievements and contributions of Calamba’s residents and stakeholders.

The event began with the recognition of Drug-Cleared Barangays, a testament to the city’s commitment to combating illegal drugs and promoting a safe and drug-free community. Mayor Rizal, together with city officials, awarded incentives to these barangays, acknowledging their efforts in maintaining peace and order.

Following the recognition of Drug-Cleared Barangays, the city honored the Medalists of the Regional Athletics Association Meet. These young athletes showcased exemplary sportsmanship and dedication, bringing pride and honor to Calamba. Their achievements serve as an inspiration to the youth and reflect the city’s vibrant sports culture.

In a groundbreaking ceremony, Mayor Rizal led the construction of a Multi-Purpose Building, which will house essential facilities such as a dialysis center, diagnostics center, and sectoral offices. This project aims to improve healthcare services and provide accessible medical assistance to residents, further enhancing the city’s healthcare infrastructure.

Additionally, the inauguration of the Rizal Building marked another milestone in the city’s development. Named after the national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal, the building symbolizes Calamba’s rich history and heritage. It will serve as a hub for cultural and educational activities, promoting awareness and appreciation of Calamba’s cultural legacy.

As part of the celebration, various cultural performances, exhibits, and recreational activities were held throughout the day, showcasing the rich cultural heritage and talent of Calamba’s residents. From traditional dances to modern artworks, the celebration encapsulated the diversity and creativity that define the city’s identity.

The anniversary celebration provided an opportunity for residents to come together in solidarity and camaraderie, strengthening the bonds of community and fostering a sense of belonging among all who call Calamba home.

“In commemorating our 23rd cityhood anniversary, let us reaffirm our commitment to unity, progress, and service to our fellow Calambeños. Together, let us continue to work towards building a brighter and more prosperous future for our beloved city,” Mayor Rizal emphasized.

As Calamba looks ahead to the future, fueled by the spirit of unity and progress, it remains steadfast in its commitment to building a brighter and more prosperous tomorrow for generations to come. With visionary leadership, active community engagement, and a shared sense of purpose, the city is poised to achieve even greater heights in the years to come.

The 23rd Calamba Cityhood Anniversary celebration was indeed a testament to the city’s resilience, dynamism, and unwavering spirit. As residents and stakeholders continue to work together towards common goals, Calamba will undoubtedly flourish as a model city of progress, unity, and excellence.
