A significant step toward strengthening the country’s education infrastructure was formalized with the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the Nationwide Classroom Building Program—an initiative of Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd), led by Sonny Angara.


The MOA signing ceremony was held at Malacañang Palace and gathered governors, city mayors, and representatives from the League of Municipalities of the Philippines, underscoring the unified commitment of national and local leaders to address classroom shortages across the country.


Among those present was Calamba City Mayor Roseller “Ross” H. Rizal, who expressed strong support for the program and emphasized its long-term impact on Filipino learners.


Pahayag ni Mayor Ross Rizal:
“Mahalagang hakbang ito upang mapalakas pa ang imprastraktura ng ating mga paaralan sa iba’t ibang lungsod sa bansa. Sa pamamagitan ng programang ito, mas mapapabilis ang pagtatayo ng mga bagong silid-aralan at masisiguro ang maayos, ligtas, at makabagong lugar para sa pagkatuto ng ating mga mag-aaral.”


“Patunay ito na kapag nagtutulungan ang pambansang pamahalaan at mga lokal na pamahalaan, mas nagiging matibay ang pundasyon ng edukasyon para sa kinabukasan ng bawat Pilipino.”


The Nationwide Classroom Building Program aims to accelerate the construction of new school buildings, ease classroom congestion, and provide safer and more modern learning environments for students nationwide. Through strengthened collaboration between the national government and local government units, the initiative seeks to ensure that educational facilities keep pace with growing student populations.


With the formalization of this agreement, the government reinforces its commitment to investing in infrastructure that supports quality education—laying down stronger foundations for the future of every Filipino learner.
