CAVITE-LAGUNA — The Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX) is nearing full completion as construction advances on its remaining sections, bringing the 45-kilometer, four-lane expressway closer to providing a continuous connection between Cavite and Laguna.

MPCALA Holdings, Inc., the private concessionaire of the project, said construction is ongoing on the remaining 18.5 kilometers covering Subsections 1 and 2, with current works focused on mainline pavement, bridge superstructures, drainage systems, interchange ramps and other related infrastructure.

CALAX currently operates continuously from Mamplasan in Biñan, Laguna, to Governors Drive in General Trias, Cavite. Once Subsections 1 and 2 are completed, the expressway will extend through Open Canal to Kawit, completing the CALAX corridor and connecting it to the Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX) through the CAVITEX-CALAX Link (CCLink).

The completed corridor is expected to provide motorists with a more direct route across Cavite and Laguna and toward Metro Manila, while offering an alternative to major local roads.

The integrated expressway network is also expected to improve access to residential, commercial and industrial areas, while supporting the movement of people and goods between key economic centers.

Beyond easing mobility, the completed CALAX is projected to strengthen logistics and business connectivity by improving links among industrial zones, warehouses, distribution hubs, commercial centers and major markets in Cavite, Laguna and Metro Manila.

More efficient expressway routes could also benefit logistics and delivery operators transporting cargo, raw materials, finished products and other goods across regional supply networks.

For businesses, improved accessibility may help facilitate the movement of employees, goods and supplies while strengthening connections to industrial and commercial areas.

CALAX is a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) project, with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) serving as the government grantor and MPCALA Holdings, Inc., a subsidiary of Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation, serving as the private concessionaire.

Once fully completed and interconnected with CAVITEX through the CCLink, CALAX is expected to further enhance regional mobility, logistics connectivity and economic activity across Cavite, Laguna and Metro Manila.
