In a pivotal moment for law enforcement, a collaborative effort involving operatives from the Regional Intelligence Unit 4A, the Provincial Intelligence Team of Quezon Police Provincial Office, members of the 1st Platoon of Quezon Provincial Mobile Force Company, and officers from Tiaong Municipal Police Station culminated in the arrest of a notorious individual amidst an armed confrontation in Sitio Pugad Lawin, Brgy. Behia, Tiaong, Quezon.

The operation, which took place on April 12, 2024, around 8:30 PM, targeted an individual who held the distinction of being the Most Wanted Person at the regional level. Armed with a warrant of arrest for violation of Sec. 5 Article II of RA. 9165, issued by Hon. Galahad Orendain, Presiding Judge of Branch 53 Lucena City, the combined operatives moved in to effect the arrest.

Upon reaching the suspect’s residence, an unidentified assailant opened fire on the operatives, forcing them to defend themselves. In the ensuing exchange of gunfire, one suspect, later identified as alias โ€Raffyโ€, sustained a gunshot wound to his right leg and was subsequently apprehended. However, another assailant managed to evade capture by fleeing into the nearby forested area of Brgy. Behia.

Alias โ€Raffyโ€, a 32-year-old male resident of Brgy Behia, Tiaong, Quezon, was not only wanted at the regional level but was also identified as a member of the Hernandez Criminal Gang. The group was known for its involvement in gun-for-hire activities and illegal drug operations spanning Batangas, the 2nd District of Quezon, and parts of Region 3. Notably, the group had been previously apprehended in Nueva Ecija on June 25, 2023, but had managed to secure temporary liberty by posting bail.

PBGEN Paul Kenneth T. Lucas, the Regional Director of PRO CALABARZON, lauded the efforts of the combined operatives in apprehending one of CALABARZONโ€™s Most Wanted Persons. He urged the community to continue supporting law enforcement in dismantling criminal groups and syndicates in the region.

Meanwhile, authorities have launched a hot pursuit operation to apprehend the unidentified suspect who remains at large. Alias โ€Raffyโ€ has been transported to United Doctorโ€™s Hospital in Candelaria, Quezon, where he is currently receiving medical treatment for his gunshot wound.

The successful operation underscores the dedication and effectiveness of law enforcement agencies in CALABARZON in pursuing justice and ensuring the safety of the community. Authorities remain vigilant in their efforts to apprehend all individuals involved in criminal activities and urge the public to report any suspicious behavior or information that may lead to the arrest of other members of criminal organizations.
