In Lucena City, Quezon Province, a significant arrest was made on April 21, 2024, when a Regional Target-Listed drug personality fell into the hands of law enforcement. Rolando Poreño Estipona Jr., a 27-year-old male, was apprehended during a meticulously executed buy-bust operation carried out by the joint operatives of PDEA Quezon Provincial Office and Lucena City Police Station.
The operation took place in the early hours of the morning at 12:15 a.m. in Purok San Francisco, Barangay Ibabang Dupay. Estipona, described as jobless and single, was found in possession of approximately 14 grams of suspected shabu, with an estimated value of Php95,200.00. Alongside the illegal substance, authorities confiscated the buy-bust money used in the operation.
Estipona now faces charges for violating Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs) of Article II of RA 9165, known as The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. These charges underscore the severity of his involvement in the illicit drug trade, casting a shadow over his future prospects.
The successful operation highlights the continued efforts of law enforcement agencies in combating the proliferation of illegal drugs, particularly in identified target areas. It serves as a reminder of the constant vigilance required to safeguard communities from the dangers posed by drug-related activities.
