Anti-narcotics operatives seized approximately six kilograms of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu, valued at an estimated ₱40.8 million, in a pre-dawn buy-bust operation in Taytay, Rizal on September 14, 2026.
        
At about 5:30 in the morning, joint elements of the PDEA Regional Office IV-A Rizal Provincial Office, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Rizal and the Philippine National Police (PNP) Regional Intelligence Unit 4A – Provincial Intelligence Team (PIT) conducted the entrapment operation at Sitio Dulong Bangiad, Barangay San Juan, Taytay, Rizal.
        
Arrested were three male individuals identified as alias “Diogen”, 32 years old; and alias “Muhammad”, 31; and alias “Eddienel”, 43 years old, both construction workers. All are residents of the same barangay where they were arrested. A fourth suspect, identified as “Abdila”, managed to evade arrest and remains at large. Authorities are continuing efforts to locate and apprehend him.
        
Aside from the suspected illegal drugs, operatives also recovered assorted firearms and ammunition, and non-drug evidence including: one M1 carbine rifle; one M16 rifle; Four cal.45 pistols; two empty .30 caliber magazines; and one empty .45 caliber magazine; one digital weighing scale; one smartphone; and the buy-bust money used during the transaction.
        
“The three arrests are important, but this is not where our investigation ends. Our objective is to identify the people behind these transactions who keep the illegal drug trade moving. We will follow the evidence and pursue their network wherever it leads,” said PDEA Director General Undersecretary Isagani R Nerez.
         
DG Nerez added that the operation is a clear reminder that authorities will not allow large-scale drug trafficking syndicates to operate with impunity. “Six kilograms of shabu were taken off the streets. Three suspects are in custody, and our work to identify the remaining links in this operation is already underway”.
         
“Imagine the danger of having this quantity of shabu circulating in our communities alongside suspects with an arsenal of firearms. Our job is to prevent these threats from reaching the streets. Today, we were able to take both the drugs and armed and dangerous individuals out of circulation,” the PDEA Chief noted.
         
Cases for violation of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs) in relation to Section 26 (Conspiracy to Sell), Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, await the suspects. If found guilty, they face the maximum penalty of life imprisonment and a fine of up to ₱10 million.
