CALAMBA CITY, LAGUNA — Police have arrested a 19-year-old man in connection with the death of a 20-year-old female student whose body was found inside a residence along Alihan Street, Purok 3, Barangay Dos, Calamba City, Laguna, on September 13, 2026.

The victim was discovered lifeless at around 6 p.m. on September 13, with the incident reported to the Calamba City Police Station at approximately 8 p.m. the same day. Police immediately conducted a follow-up investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding her death.

Investigators identified the 19-year-old suspect as the last person seen with the victim. At around 1:20 a.m. on September 14, the suspect was voluntarily surrendered by his parents to the Calamba Police.

In the presence of his counsel de officio, the suspect executed an extra-judicial confession and admitted his participation in the incident. According to his statement, he and the victim had a heated argument that escalated into a physical confrontation, during which he restrained the victim using a “choke hold.” The confession was duly notarized.

Initial autopsy findings by the Regional Forensic Unit-4A indicated that the victim died from asphyxia resulting from manual strangulation.

Based on the evidence and information gathered by investigators, police classified the incident as a homicide case. The suspect remains under the custody of the Calamba Police and was informed of his constitutional rights.

The Homicide case was filed through inquest proceedings on September 14, 2026, and docketed as NPS Docket No. IV-12-INQ-26I-00830 before the Office of the Prosecutor in Calamba City, Laguna.

Meanwhile, the Calamba Police urged residents to remain calm amid social media posts circulating about the incident. Authorities cautioned the public against sharing unverified information that could cause unnecessary fear and alarm in the community.

Calamba City Police Station Chief PLTCOL Dennis C. De Guzman appealed to residents to remain vigilant while allowing authorities and the justice system to address the case.

“Nauunawaan namin ang pangamba ng ating mga kababayan. Ngunit hinihikayat namin ang lahat na manatiling kalmado, mapagmatyag, at huwag magpakalat ng mga impormasyong hindi pa beripikado. Mabilis na kumilos ang Calamba Police, naaresto ang suspek at naisampa na ang kaukulang kaso. Patuloy kaming magbabantay para sa kaligtasan ng bawat Calambeño.”

The Calamba Police reiterated its appeal for residents to remain calm, stay vigilant, and trust the legal process as the case proceeds.
