Mayor Ross Rizal Brings Relief, Walkways to Flood-Affected Families in Calamba

CALAMBA CITY, LAGUNA — Mayor Roseller “Ross” H. Rizal led the continued response of the Calamba City government to families affected by the rising waters of Laguna de Bay, bringing relief goods, medicines, and wooden walkways to flooded communities.

The latest assistance was delivered to residents of Barangay Lingga, following earlier visits and interventions in the flood-affected barangays of Palingon, Pansol, and Masili.

The wooden materials were provided to serve as temporary bridges and pathways, allowing affected residents to move through flooded areas with their feet kept dry as they travel to work, school, and other daily activities.

“Muli nating tinungo ang ating mga kababayan sa Barangay Lingga upang personal na makita ang kalagayan ng mga pamilyang apektado ng patuloy na pagtaas ng tubig mula sa lawa ng Laguna.”

According to Mayor Rizal, some homes remain submerged and families continue to need immediate assistance. Relief goods were subsequently distributed to 807 families, along with other essential supplies.

“May mga tahanang patuloy na lubog at mga pamilyang nangangailangan ng agarang tulong. Kaya naman agad tayong kumilos upang maghatid ng relief goods para sa 807 na pamilya at iba pang pangunahing pangangailangan. Nagpadala rin tayo ng mga kahoy na maaaring magsilbing tulay at daanan para sa ating mga kababayan.”

The city government also provided medicines intended to address illnesses that may be caused or aggravated by flooding, including leptospirosis, amoebiasis, and skin diseases such as scabies.

“Kasabay nito, naglaan din tayo ng mga gamot para sa iba’t ibang sakit na maaaring dulot o lumala dahil sa pagbaha, kabilang ang leptospirosis, amoebiasis, galis, at iba pa.”

Mayor Rizal emphasized that the city government would continue assisting residents as communities deal with the effects of the rising water from Laguna de Bay.

“Sa gitna ng pagsubok, hindi kailangang harapin ito nang mag-isa. Patuloy tayong nasa tabi ng ating mga kababayan—tumutugon, umaalalay, at sama-samang bumabangon.”
