Senator Christopher โ€œBongโ€ Go, renowned for his compassionate service, continued his commitment to community welfare during the celebration of the 20th Kesong Puti Festival in Sta. Cruz, Laguna. On April 15, in collaboration with the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA), Senator Go spearheaded the ‘Malasakit sa Kooperatiba’ initiative as part of his ongoing efforts to support cooperatives in the region.

The event, held at the Cultural Center Provincial Capitol, saw Senator Go and his Malasakit Team providing assistance to 23 cooperatives, benefiting 230 cooperative members. Various forms of support were distributed, including financial aid and sports equipment such as basketballs and volleyballs, along with shirts.

Highlighting the importance of hard work and responsible business practices, Senator Go emphasized the significance of cooperative development in community progress. Encouraging cooperative members to utilize resources wisely and contribute to community upliftment, he reiterated his unwavering support for the cooperative sector.

The event was graced by key figures including CDA Undersecretary Joy Encabo, Governor Ramil Hernandez, and Vice Governor Karen Agapay, underscoring the collaborative efforts towards cooperative advancement in the region.

Senator Goโ€™s advocacy for cooperative development extends beyond mere rhetoric. He has played a pivotal role in legislative initiatives such as Republic Act No. 11502, designating October as “National Cooperative Month,” and RA 11535, which strengthens the cooperative movement by mandating the appointment of cooperative development officers in local government units.

As Vice Chair of the Senate Committee on Finance, Senator Go has championed increased funding for the Cooperative Development Authority, facilitating the implementation of programs aimed at enhancing the skills and competencies of cooperative members. The 2024 national budget reflects this commitment with significant financial support allocated to CDAโ€™s Human Capital Development Program for Cooperatives.

Senator Goโ€™s dedication to cooperative development transcends regional boundaries. Earlier in April, he extended similar assistance to cooperatives in Quezon City, underscoring his nationwide advocacy for the cooperative sector.

In addition to his support for cooperatives, Senator Go remains actively engaged in various community initiatives. On the same day as the ‘Malasakit sa Kooperatiba’ event, he attended the 77th Founding Anniversary of the Philippine Red Cross in Quezon City. There, he participated in the inauguration of a new chapter building and witnessed the mass oath-taking of thousands of new volunteers, demonstrating his multifaceted commitment to community service.

In his closing remarks, Senator Go expressed gratitude for the support and trust of the community, reaffirming his dedication to serving the people. Adopted as a son of the CALABARZON region, he emphasized his approachability and willingness to assist, encouraging constituents to regard him as a neighbor and friend.

Senator Goโ€™s tireless efforts to uplift communities, support cooperatives, and serve the people reflect his enduring commitment to public welfare. With his unwavering dedication, he continues to make a positive impact on the lives of Filipinos across the nation.
