BATANGAS — Bilang bahagi ng pagdiriwang ng World Environment Day, nagsagawa ang pamahalaang lungsod ng Batangas ng isang natatanging “jogging-pulot-basura” o plogging activity kamakalawa upang hikayatin ang mamamayan na makiisa sa pangangalaga ng kalikasan.

Pinangunahan ng Office of the City Environment and Natural Resources Office o CENRO ang programa na pinagsasama ang pag-eehersisyo at paglilinis ng kapaligiran sa pamamagitan ng pagpupulot ng basura habang naglalakad o tumatakbo.

Nilahukan ito ng mga residente mula sa iba’t ibang barangay at organisasyon sa lungsod.

Ayon sa mga opisyal, layunin ng aktibidad na mabawasan ang polusyon lalo na ang problema sa plastic waste, kasabay ng pagpapalawak ng kamalayan ng publiko sa kahalagahan ng malinis na kapaligiran.

Sinabi ni City Environment Officer Oliver Gonzales na maraming paraan upang makiisa sa pangangalaga ng kalikasan tulad ng pagtatanim ng puno, wastong pagtatapon ng basura at pagtitipid sa tubig at kuryente.

Bahagi rin ng kampanya ng lungsod ang pagsusulong ng tamang waste segregation  sa bawat tahanan upang makamit ang mas malinis, ligtas at mas malusog na komunidad.
