The Provincial Government of Laguna, through the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), launched Rescuelympics 2026 on July 2 at the Laguna Sports Complex in Sta. Cruz as its flagship activity for the observance of National Disaster Resilience Month. Led by PDRRMO Head Aldwin Cejo, the event brought together rescue teams, emergency responders, and partner agencies to strengthen disaster preparedness, sharpen lifesaving skills, foster teamwork, and promote a culture of resilience across the province.

The opening program was attended by Atty. Nathalie Velasquez, Dir. Carlos Alvarez III, Hannah Krystel Castro, representatives from various local government units, emergency response organizations, and partner agencies, all demonstrating their collective commitment to enhancing Laguna’s disaster response capabilities.

Organized by the PDRRMO, Rescuelympics 2026 features a series of rescue simulations, technical competitions, and emergency response drills designed to assess and improve the knowledge, skills, physical readiness, and coordination of participating rescue teams. The activities also provide an opportunity for responders to exchange best practices and strengthen inter-agency collaboration in managing emergencies and disasters.

In his message, PDRRMO Head Aldwin Cejo emphasized the importance of continuous training and preparedness, noting that effective disaster response depends on well-equipped, highly skilled, and coordinated emergency responders. He encouraged participants to use the competition as an opportunity to enhance their capabilities while fostering camaraderie and teamwork.

Officials likewise underscored that disaster resilience extends beyond emergency response, stressing that preparedness begins with awareness, education, and the active participation of every community member. Through initiatives such as Rescuelympics, the province continues to reinforce the importance of readiness and proactive disaster risk reduction.

As Laguna observes National Disaster Resilience Month, the Provincial Government remains committed to strengthening emergency response systems, promoting public awareness, and building safer, more resilient communities capable of responding effectively to disasters and other emergencies.
