QUEZON — Nagdulot ng pangamba ang pagtagilid ng pampasahero at pangkargang barko na MV Virgen de Peñafrancia II sa layong humigit-kumulang 10 metro mula sa Real Port, Barangay Ungos, Real, nabanggit na lalawigan nitong madaling-araw ng Oktubre 30, 2026.

Base sa paunang ulat, naganap ang insidente dakong alas-12:44 ng madaling-araw habang papalapit sa Real Port ang barkong nagmula sa Polillo Port sakay nito ang 40 pasahero, kabilang ang dalawang sanggol, at 18 tripulante.

Agad na rumesponde ang Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) sa pamamagitan ng pagdeploy ng Aluminum Boat 167 at iba pang tauhan upang iligtas at tulungan ang mga sakay ng barko.

Kinumpirma ng Coast Guard Station (CGS) Northern Quezon na ligtas na nailikas ang lahat ng 58 pasahero at tripulante at sinuri ng Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) ng Real na kasalukuyang nasa maayus na kondisyon at kalagayan na ang mga ito.

Samantala,namataan ang tila manipis na bahid ng langis malapit sa hulihang bahagi ng barko dahil dito,nakatakdang magdeploy ng oil spill booms ang Marine Environmental Protection Unit–Northern Quezon upang makontrol ang posibleng pagkalat ng langis at masuri ang sitwasyon.

Patuloy pa ang isinasagawang imbestigasyon ng mga awtoridad upang mabatid ang dahilan at pangyayari sa insidente.
