Truck Suffers Mechanical Failure, Helper Injured in SLEX Crash Near Sta. Rosa

STA. ROSA, Laguna — A helper was injured after a Fuso tractor with trailer figured in a single-vehicle road crash along the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) northbound on Thursday afternoon, July 2.

The incident occurred at around 2:13 p.m. at Kilometer 39+900 northbound, approximately two kilometers before Sta. Rosa and after the Total Gas Station.

Initial investigation showed that the Fuso tractor with trailer bearing plate number MAS 3950 was traversing Lane 4 of the northbound lane when it allegedly encountered a mechanical problem. The vehicle reportedly swerved to the left, causing the driver to lose control before crashing into the median barriers.

The impact caused the truck to end up in a jackknife position along the expressway.

Authorities said the vehicle’s helper was thrown out during the incident and sustained injuries. The driver and injured helper were immediately assisted by the responding medical team and were brought to the nearest hospital for treatment.

Traffic management operations were immediately implemented in the affected area as authorities worked to manage vehicle flow and clear the scene.
